    Dear Sirs & Mesdames:

Last Fall, my HTC Desire Z suffered a gross irreparable mishap. We could call it an “industrial accident”. This cell phone was long pursued by me for its design, inclusive of keyboard. At the time, the browser supported Google Play and other apps and app downloads.

2 months later, when I found a replacement of the same model, I had the rude surprise that the unit’s browser no longer supported Google Play. I have since learned that I have been closed off to plenty more.

A call to your Customer Service was met with apathy. I received better service from my cell & data plan service provider, to whom moreover, HTC C/S actually deferred to– essentially abdicating any responsibility to serve a customer. Worse yet, the HTC rep’s interest was more to propose that the ideal solution was to replace a otherwise great cell phone…for a little-heard-of $800.00 HTC smartphone of sorts. Brutal, and I was left incredulous.

I reported my experience to your follow up customer survey in earnest. No feedback to date, and that was months ago. No surprise.

Now what really chafes me is that it is now apparent that HTC did not just stop at cutting me off access to Google Play, but has taken clearly deliberate steps to thwart the downloading of any other potential remedies such as a more current browser, an Android installer, etc., and yet I can access practically anything else that has nothing to do with improving my O/S or find remedy such as a more usable browser and access to Google Play Store and other resources I need.

This is no coincidence, and to suggest it is an insult to my intelligence. I invested in protective housings for my HTS Desire Z and a special protective belt holster.

I am not going to make any foray into the thinking about HTC deciding to move in its product lines from the Desire Z. However, HTC should not abandon a customer, nor throw the customer under the bus by making damn sure the customer cannot find any work around to sustain the usability of the phone. And I get it: customer loyalty means crap to the people you have in place to serve customer, whether C/S or Tech Support.

The moment I do find a cell phone that meets my design interest (I am no leming, and I do not run with the iOS ‘et al’ and gaming crowd– I am all business), I will dispose of my Desire Z (with reflexive reluctance) and I am inclined to then post blogs, wherever I find opportunity to do so, to make it known how HTC treats its customers…. but then there is the paradox…the very assumption that HTC views me as a customer appears to be question.

    Most Sincerely,

I phoned this your customer center today to advise of a manufacturing fault on my phone which has the phone stuck on a boot loop & will not allow me to turn phone off to reboot. I ended up phoning to speak to a customer service operator who said his name was “Lou” who proceeded to question me over & over again what I had done to my phone, did not listen to what I told him and then accused me of breaking the screen of the phone which it is not broken. When asking what he would do to either fix or replace my phone he could not give me an answer, I asked to speak to a supervisor on approx 12 occasions in which he stated they were busy, he put me on hold numerous accessions for numerous minutes only to come back & say they were unavailable. When I asked to be put through to customer complaints he advised there was no customer complaints section. I requested a reference number in which I was provided with one after being on hold again for several minutes. After asking to be put through to a supervisor again he then put me on hold and then hung up. I was on the phone for 49.32 minutes.
I called again and I was told that the reference number I was provided was not a valid reference number & told there was no “Lou” working there. After retelling my story & asking to speak to a supervisor 5x I was finally put through to a supervisor who then told me that “Lou” did not tell her anyone was requesting to speak to a supervisor.
I feel I have been treated badly, lied to, provided fraudulent information and received the poorest customer service I have ever had to endure. This will be the last HTC phone I will ever purchase and have sent information to the Telecommunications ombudsmen of this dishonest & fraudulent service I received today which was witnessed by another telecommunication service. Shame on you TLC.
